Sage Intacct is cloud accounting and financial management software for organisations of typically 20 or more employees. Sage says more than 30,000 organisations use it, a vendor-reported figure1.
Best for: Finance-led companies, often in services or with many entities, whose main reason for leaving Acumatica is the close, consolidation and payables work.
Not the right fit for: Distributors and manufacturers that need production and warehouse operations in the same system as the books.
What it covers
Sage lists multi-entity accounting with consolidation across currencies and automated intercompany eliminations, shared dashboards and reporting, and AI agents for the close, AP automation, financial assurance and finance questions. Planning, HR and payroll, and expense management are available as connected products, and its marketplace lists more than 350 integrations1.
Its AI is described with unusual attention to control. Sage says its agents work within the customer’s controls with human approval required, and that every AI action is logged with who authorised it1.
How it compares with Acumatica
Acumatica includes inventory, order, project, manufacturing and construction modules across its editions2. The Sage Intacct page we read describes financials, planning, HR and payroll, but no production or warehouse modules. Sage Intacct therefore fits companies whose operations already live elsewhere, or whose reason for leaving Acumatica is mainly the close and consolidation.
Published evidence
- GoGuardian (customer-reported). Sage reports that GoGuardian cut a 31-day close to 5 days and reported 800% ROI in its first year.1
- Acquia (customer-reported). Sage reports that Acquia shortened its close from 10 days to 3.1
Strengths and limits
Strengths
- Its agents work within the customer’s controls, require human approval, and log who authorised each action.
- Consolidates many entities across currencies, with automated intercompany eliminations.
- Publishes named customer results for the close and payables.

Questions to ask Sage
- Which of our Acumatica modules would Sage Intacct not replace, and what would we use instead?
- Which agents are included in the subscription, and which are priced separately?
- How long does the close take for a customer with our number of entities?
- What would implementation cost, and who would deliver it?
