Acumatica Alternatives

OpenLazarus as an Acumatica alternative: AI teammates beside the ERP

Not a replacement ERP but a system the company owns for the email, phone and order-desk work around the ledger. Strong where work arrives before a record exists; no substitute for the books.

OpenLazarus builds one platform per company, with modules for CRM, mail, calendar, tasks, operations and finance, and AI teammates that each have an inbox and a phone number12. For an Acumatica customer, its relevance is the work that happens before anything reaches the ERP.

Best for: Acumatica customers that want AI teammates to take on order-desk, purchasing and customer work by email and phone, on a system the company owns, while the ERP keeps the books.

Not the right fit for: Companies that need a replacement general ledger, inventory costing or job costing. OpenLazarus is not an ERP.

What it does next to an ERP

Its industry pages describe the same arrangement in different settings. On the wholesale page, OpenLazarus reads from the existing ERP and writes back where it has to, so orders, stock and customers stay on one record; an order-desk teammate turns emailed, faxed and voicemail orders into orders for a person to confirm, and a purchasing teammate drafts purchase orders3. On the manufacturing page, it reads jobs, routings and inventory from the ERP, and most shops keep the ERP for job costing and the books4. On the construction page, contractors keep the accounting system as the book of record5.

Each teammate works within limits the company sets: what it handles alone, and what waits for a person. The wholesale page gives a purchase order over $15,000 and a credit over $500 as examples, and says every action is logged where staff can see it3. The company owns the code and data, and the system can run on managed hosting or be moved elsewhere; European companies can run on EU servers1.

What it does not do

OpenLazarus is not an ERP, and its own industry pages advise mid-sized companies to keep their ERP or accounting system as the book of record. Its pages name no specific ERP connector, so whether a ready-made Acumatica integration exists is a question for the first conversation. Its industry pages use invented example companies, labelled as such, and there are no published customer case studies of it working beside an ERP34.

Strengths and limits

Strengths

  • Each teammate has its own inbox and phone number and works on the same records as staff, which reaches the email and phone work that in-ERP agents do not.
  • Limits are set per teammate: its wholesale page gives a purchase order over $15,000 or a credit over $500 as examples that wait for a person, and every action is logged.
  • Prices are published: Starter at $100 and Pro at $300 a month, managed hosting from $150 a month, engineering support from $4,500 a month and 5.5% on AI credits.
  • The company owns the code and data. Hosting can move to its own cloud, and European companies can run on EU servers.

Limits

  • Not an ERP. Its industry pages advise keeping the existing ERP or accounting system as the book of record, and manufacturers keep the ERP for job costing.
  • Names no specific ERP connector. The pages we read do not say whether it has a ready-made Acumatica integration, so the connection should be scoped in writing.
  • No published customer case studies of work alongside an ERP. Its industry pages use invented example companies.
  • Companies of 30 or more people start with an engineering session rather than a self-serve plan, so a mid-sized company’s full price is set after that conversation.

Choose another option if: You need to retire Acumatica’s ledger, inventory and costing in one move. Business Central, NetSuite, Odoo or Epicor replace the ERP itself; OpenLazarus would sit beside whichever you choose.

Pricing

Published: Starter $100 and Pro $300 a month, managed hosting from $150 a month, engineering support from $4,500 a month and 5.5% on AI credits. The AI-Architect consultancy is priced per engagement.

Questions to ask OpenLazarus

  • How would you connect to our Acumatica instance, and through which of its interfaces?
  • Which records would you read, which would you write back, and who approves each write?
  • What would one department's first phase cost, and how would we measure it?
  • If we leave, how do we take the code and data with us?
